Invacare Pegasus Metro Battery

Restore the Range of Canada’s Most Popular Mid-Size Scooter. We Come to You.

The Invacare Pegasus Metro is the "Goldilocks" of mobility scooters—not too big, not too small, but just right. With its ergonomic handlebars, intelligent speed reduction in corners, and smooth suspension, it is the perfect daily driver for navigating Vancouver’s sidewalks and shopping centers.

However, the Pegasus Metro relies on advanced electronics to manage its safety features. If your scooter is jerking while turning, losing speed rapidly on small inclines, or if the "Battery Gauge" drops from full to empty in minutes, your batteries are no longer delivering the stable voltage the computer needs.

At MobileBattery, we specialize in the specific power requirements of the Invacare Pegasus series. We bring the factory-correct batteries directly to your door, ensuring your daily ride remains safe, reliable, and powerful.

The Pegasus "Fitment Trap": Don't Be Fooled

There is a critical detail about the Pegasus Metro that many general battery shops get wrong.

The "U1" Mistake: The battery tray under the seat of a Pegasus Metro is spacious. Because of this, inexperienced technicians often install smaller, cheaper Group U1 (35Ah) batteries.

  • The Problem: While they physically fit, U1 batteries are underpowered for the Pegasus Metro’s motor. They will overheat, cause the scooter to cut out on hills, and fail within 6-12 months.

The MobileBattery Standard: We only install Group 22NF (50Ah - 55Ah) batteries in the Pegasus Metro.

  • Why: This is the size Invacare engineers specified. It provides 40% more energy capacity than a U1 battery, ensuring you get the full 40km+ range the scooter was designed to deliver. We use specialized terminal adapters to ensure a tight, vibration-free connection to your Invacare wiring harness.

Select Your Performance Tier

We offer two professional-grade options for the Pegasus Metro, allowing you to choose the performance that matches your lifestyle.

Option A: The Factory Standard (AGM)

"The Direct Replacement." If you loved the performance of your Pegasus when it was new, this is the battery for you. It matches the original factory specifications perfectly.

  • Best For: Grocery shopping, appointments, and paved pathways.

  • Tech: 55Ah Sealed AGM (Maintenance Free).

Option B: The Upgrade (Discover® EV Dry Cell)

"The Hill Climber." Highly Recommended for Vancouver Riders. The Pegasus Metro is a capable outdoor machine. If you live in a hilly area like North Vancouver or White Rock, the Discover® Dry Cell is the ultimate upgrade.

  • Sustained Voltage: These batteries hold their power better under load. This means your "Cornering Safety" feature won't trigger aggressively just because the battery is slightly low.

  • Winter Ready: Engineered to perform in cold and damp climates where standard batteries often sluggish.

Note: Currently, there is no "Drop-In" Lithium battery available that fits the Pegasus Metro's specific hold-down system securely. Option B remains the highest performance upgrade available.

Why Pegasus Owners Call MobileBattery

The Invacare Pegasus Metro is a sophisticated machine designed with user safety in mind.

The "Plastic Clip" Challenge: To access the batteries, the rear body shroud must be removed. This shroud is held in place by Invacare’s specific plastic friction clips.

The DIY Risk: In cold weather, these clips become brittle. Pulling the shroud incorrectly can snap the bodywork, leaving you with a rattling scooter.

The Professional Touch:

  • We Come to You: Save the $150 transport fee. We service the scooter right in your parkade or driveway.

  • Safe Disassembly: Our technicians know exactly where to apply pressure to pop the clips safely without damage.

  • Velcro Strap Check: The Pegasus uses heavy-duty Velcro straps to secure the batteries. We inspect and retighten these during installation to ensure your heavy 22NF batteries don't shift while you drive.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

My Pegasus Metro slows down automatically when I turn. Is the battery dying?

Not necessarily. The Pegasus Metro features "Intelligent Speed Reduction," a safety feature that automatically slows the scooter in sharp turns to prevent tipping. However, if this slowing feels "jerky" or happens even on gentle curves, it is often a sign that weak batteries are causing voltage fluctuations that confuse the computer.

How far can a Pegasus Metro go on new batteries?

With a fresh set of our Group 22NF (55Ah) batteries, a healthy Pegasus Metro is rated for approximately 42 km to 54 km per charge on flat ground. Hills and rider weight will naturally reduce this range.

The "Wrench" icon is flashing on my dashboard. What does it mean?

Invacare scooters use "Flash Codes" to diagnose issues.

  • Flash Code 1: Battery needs recharging.

  • Flash Code 2: Battery voltage is too low (Dead Cell).

  • Flash Code 3: Battery voltage is too high (Overcharging). If you see these codes, call us immediately. Driving with a dead cell can damage your expensive electronic controller.
