Shoprider Trailblazer Battery

Restore the Range of Canada’s Most Trusted Scooter. We Come to You.

The Shoprider Trailblazer (Model 889SL) is widely considered the "Honda Civic" of mobility scooters—reliable, practical, and built to last. For decades, it has been a top choice for Canadians who need a machine that can handle grocery store aisles just as well as park pathways.

However, the Trailblazer’s reputation for reliability depends entirely on its power source. If your scooter is losing speed on hills, struggling to hold a charge for more than a day, or if the "Battery Condition Meter" on the tiller drops rapidly, it is time to refresh your power plant.

At MobileBattery, we specialize in the specific needs of the Shoprider 889 series. We bring the factory-correct batteries directly to your door, saving you the hassle of transporting your scooter to a repair shop.

The Trailblazer "Size Trap": Avoid the U1 Mistake

There is a common error made by general battery shops when servicing the Trailblazer.

The "U1" Problem: The battery compartment under the Trailblazer's seat is spacious. Because of this, inexperienced technicians often install smaller, cheaper Group U1 (35Ah) batteries to offer a lower price.

  • The Consequence: While U1 batteries fit, they are underpowered for the Trailblazer’s heavy motor and full suspension system. This results in poor range (less than 20km) and batteries that fail in less than a year.

The MobileBattery Standard: We only install Group 22NF (55Ah) batteries in the Shoprider Trailblazer.

  • Why: This is the size the engineers specified. It provides 50% more energy capacity than a U1 battery, giving you the power to climb hills without stalling and the range to handle all-day outings.

Select Your Performance Tier

We offer two professional-grade options for the Shoprider Trailblazer, allowing you to choose the performance that fits your daily life.

Option A: The Factory Standard (AGM)

"The OEM Restoration." If you want your Trailblazer to drive exactly like it did the day you bought it, this is the solution. It is a high-quality, direct replacement for the original batteries.

  • Best For: Shopping, appointments, and flat neighborhood cruising.

  • Tech: 55Ah Sealed AGM (Maintenance Free).

Option B: The Upgrade (Discover® EV Dry Cell)

"The Hill Climber." Highly Recommended for Active Users. If you use your Trailblazer to explore parks, navigate gravel paths, or tackle the hills of Vancouver and Burnaby, the Discover® Dry Cell is the ultimate upgrade.

  • Sustained Power: These batteries maintain higher voltage under load. This means your Trailblazer won't slow down as much when climbing steep inclines.

  • Vibration Resistant: Reinforced internal construction handles the bumps of outdoor driving better than standard batteries.

Note: Currently, there is no "Drop-In" Lithium battery available in the Group 22NF size that fits the Trailblazer securely. Option B remains the highest performance upgrade available.

Why Trailblazer Owners Call MobileBattery

The Shoprider Trailblazer is a solid, heavy machine.

The Disassembly Challenge: To access the batteries, the heavy "Captain’s Seat" must be removed, followed by the rear body shroud.

  • The Risk: The Trailblazer uses a specific plastic shroud that clips into the frame. We frequently see scooters where these clips have been broken by rough handling, causing the bodywork to rattle.

The Professional Touch:

  • We Come to You: Save the $150 transport fee. We perform the service right in your driveway or parking stall.

  • Careful Handling: Our technicians know the specific lift points to remove the shroud safely without cracking the plastic.

  • Connection Check: Shoprider uses a specific "Quick-Connect" harness. We inspect these plugs for corrosion—a common issue that causes power cutting out—and clean them during the install.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How far can a Shoprider Trailblazer go on new batteries?

With a fresh set of our Group 22NF (55Ah) batteries, a healthy Trailblazer is rated for approximately 35 km to 40 km per charge.

Note: If you have undersized U1 batteries installed, you are likely only getting 15-20km. Upgrading to the correct size will double your range.

My Trailblazer has a "Slow/Fast" switch. Does that affect battery life?

Yes. Driving at full speed (Fast Mode) draws significantly more current than "Indoor Mode." However, a healthy set of Group 22NF batteries is designed to handle the "Fast" setting without overheating. If your scooter cuts out in Fast Mode but works in Slow Mode, your batteries are definitely dead.

Can I upgrade my Trailblazer to the larger Group 24 batteries?

No. The Trailblazer 889SL chassis is specifically molded for Group 22NF. The larger Group 24 batteries (used in the Shoprider Landcruiser) are physically too tall and will prevent the seat from locking into place.

Keep Your Independence Rolling.

Don't settle for undersized power. Book your specialized Shoprider Trailblazer battery replacement today. We guarantee the correct Group 22NF fitment for maximum range.
