Group Size 27 Battery: Built for Bigger Power Demands in Canada

If your vehicle demands more power—especially in cold weather or for heavier electrical loads—the Group Size 27 battery might be exactly what you need. It’s one of the larger 12V automotive batteries on the market and is known for delivering strong starting performance and deep cycle support for larger vehicles, trucks, and even some RVs and marine applications.

Battery Size, Specs, and Cost in Canada

Group 27 batteries are large and powerful. They typically measure about 12.06 inches long, 6.81 inches wide, and 8.88 inches high. These 12-volt batteries are known for high capacity, usually offering:

  • Cold Cranking Amps (CCA): 650 to 900

  • Cranking Amps (CA): 800 to 1000

  • Amp-Hour (Ah) Rating: 75 to 95Ah

In Canada, a Group 27 battery usually costs between $190 and $280, depending on the brand and whether it's a flooded or AGM type. Most come with a 3-year free replacement warranty, which is ideal for those who rely on their battery in demanding driving conditions.

How to Know When Your Group 27 Battery Needs Replacing

You don’t need a mechanic to spot battery trouble. Here are a few basic checks:

  1. Listen – Slow engine cranking is a common early sign.

  2. Check the voltage – A fully charged battery should read 12.6 volts or higher.

  3. Run a load test – During engine start, the voltage shouldn’t dip below 9.6 volts.

If you’re not comfortable doing the testing yourself, MobileBattery offers battery testing and replacement on-site—whether you’re parked at home, work, or roadside.

Lifespan of Group 27 Batteries in Canada

Due to harsh winters and hot summers, Group 27 batteries typically last 3 to 5 years in Canada. Larger batteries like this are designed for endurance, but even the best batteries lose power over time—especially with frequent cold starts and high accessory use.
